- Guest Book - Instead of the usual signing of the guest book, have a couple of attendants armed with polaroid cameras take pictures of guests as they arrive. Mount the pictures in a photo album and have the guests sign under their picture. Then, you'll have a beautiful photo album of all of your wedding guests.
- Cameras at Guest's Tables - Because you can't be everywhere at once, place a disposable flash camera at each reception table. This way your guests can take pictures of things that happen during the reception that otherwise might have been missed.
- Christmas Ornaments - Request that your guests bring a Christmas ornament to your reception. This way, not only will you be getting lots of decorations for your Christmas treecelebrating Christmas each year but also remembering the wonderful day you were married.
- Getting the Newlyweds to Kiss - Instead of clinking glasses with silverware to get the newlyweds to kiss, invite your guests to sing songs with the word "love" in them. Everytime the word "love" is sung, the newlyweds kiss. This is a lot of fun and make sure your videographer is ready!
- Garter and Bouquet - Many weddings have more married couples than single people. Here's an alternative to the throwing the bouquet and garter. Have your DJ play a nice slow song and invite all of the married couples to the dance floor. Then the DJ begins inviting the couples to sit down based upon who's been married the shortest amount of time (beginning with the bride and groom). For example, everyone who's been married less than an hour, please sit down. Then, everyone who's been married less than 5 years and so on. When only one couple is remaining on the dance floor, have them remain on the dance floor and watch the ritual removal of the garter. Then present them with the bouquet and garter.
- Guest Party Favors - For a unique party favor, purchase a lottery ticket for each guest. You can express that lottery tickets were chosed because you are so lucky to have all of your friends and family present at your wedding. You can also request that any winnings be split between the winner and the newlyweds.
- Children's Table - If there will be a lot of children attending your wedding, you could set up a children's table with coloring books, crayons and other busy activities. You might also consider hiring a teen-ager to help keep on eye on all of them.
- Wedding Attendants at the Cake Ceremony - Have the bridesmaids and groomsmen line up with the bride and groom during the cake cutting/feeding. It makes for a beautiful photo opportunity and gives the attendants another ceremony to participate in.
